UbuntuSusu: AAASME Broadens Sensitization Campaign Across Africa and Beyond

After the successful launch of the UbuntuSusu Sensitization Caravan in Algiers—coinciding with the 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF)—the All Africa Association for Small and Medium Enterprises (AAASME) has ramped up efforts to promote the $1.4 billion UbuntuSusu Continental SME Fund across Africa and internationally.

Strategic Engagements in Key Cities

  • Cairo, Egypt
The Caravan made its next stop in Cairo during the AfCFTA Ministerial Meetings and a Private Sector Roundtable held on September 15, 2025. There, AAASME representatives engaged local SMEs and stakeholders, presenting the UbuntuSusu Fund’s objectives and operational blueprint. The attendees welcomed the initiative and applauded its ambition.
  • Johannesburg, South Africa
At the Global SME Finance Forum, the campaign gained further momentum. During this event, Ambassador Wallace Williams (Ambassador of Antigua and Barbuda to Nigeria) was appointed Global Africa Champion for UbuntuSusu. AAASME President Dr. Ebiekure Jasper Eradiri recognized Ambassador Williams’ dedication to the Global Africa agenda and emphasized that this role will be key in advancing the UbuntuSusu vision worldwide.

Ambassador Williams, in turn, expressed his gratitude and reaffirmed his commitment to championing Africa’s SME interests in his new role. He recalled his first meeting with AAASME during the “Africa Celebrates” event in Addis Ababa in 2024 and pledged to strengthen ties across the African diaspora through this advocacy.

  • Geneva, Switzerland
During the WTO Public Forum (September 17–18, 2025), the UbuntuSusu delegation deepened its global outreach, holding multiple bilateral discussions with prospective partners and stakeholders. Among the highlights was the designation of Mrs. Maureen Mba, Head of MANSA at Afreximbank, as “Poster Queen Ambassador” for UbuntuSusu. Ambassador Williams conferred this honor in recognition of Mrs. Mba’s outstanding contributions to promoting Africa’s financial sovereignty and inclusion—principles aligned closely with UbuntuSusu’s goals.

Toward a Continental and Global Footprint

The expanded engagement reflects AAASME’s commitment to broadening awareness and support for the UbuntuSusu Fund beyond mere policy pronouncements. By embedding the sensitization efforts within high-level continental and global forums, AAASME aims to ensure that:

  • SMEs across Africa are fully informed about the fund’s structure, benefits, and application processes
  • Strategic global partners are brought into the fold, reinforcing credibility, funding potential, and linkages
  • Champions and ambassadors are appointed to drive advocacy, networking, and buy-in across diverse regions

As the UbuntuSusu initiative gains traction, AAASME remains focused on driving inclusive growth, boosting SME resilience, and mobilizing capital flow that aligns with continental development priorities.
